Some couples call to say, “We know we should be asking questions, but we aren’t sure what questions we should ask.” Typically a couple needs help sorting out how to integrate two different religious/cultural backgrounds. This requires clarifying who you see yourself to be and sharing that with your partner.
One-on-One counseling is available in person, or you may choose online or phone conversations. In these discussions we’ll identify what the two of you feel are your pressing concerns. Or, if you’re not sure what you should be asking, we’ll walk through typical stumbling blocks to see which issues may pop up for you in the future.
Topics of importance to interfaith couples include child-rearing, holiday celebrations, interacting with extended family, and clarifying religious/ethnic/cultural values. We’ll discuss effective ways to address these significant and often delicate matters, and lay the groundwork for decision making in a warm and non-judgmental environment.
Group Discussions – Couples discussion groups offer the opportunity to cover these same topics with other couples as well as a facilitator. Groups are formed on an ongoing basis. Email Dawn if you are interested.
